Maryland takes home top honors in 4-H Contest

The team from Maryland 4-H won the National 4-H contest at this year’s World Dairy Expo. Awards were announced Monday evening. Ariel Traxdal, Morgan Meisenheimer, Emily Gill, and Chelsea Davis made up the Maryland team and were coached by Kiera Finucane and Lorretta Wright (shown in the photo.) Maryland also won reasons for the 14th time in history — fittingly receiving the Lee Majeske plaque (Majeske was a long-time Maryland 4-H coach.) Karen Anderson (shown in the photo), a 4-H'er from Minnesota was placed first individually. That’s the third year in a row that a Minnesota 4-H'er has won the contest. In addition, this is the second national contest that Anderson has won during her 4-H career. In 2006, Anderson was the high individual at the All-American contest in Harrisburg, Pa.
