Coverage of 2009 World Dairy Expo.
Stephan Sparkler Vera, an aged cow, was named Grand Champion of the Central National Jersey show that concluded just a short while ago. Vera was exhibited by Joel and Greg Bourne of Ansonia, Ohio. Reserve Grand Champion went to Ratliff Price Alicia exhibited by Ron and Christy Ratliff of Garnett, Kansas. The Brown Swiss heifers are in the ring now. Cows will show tomorrow. Watch here to see Grand Champion of that show!
You'll find more than just the seven dairy breeds at Expo this year. The Grazing Pavillion, a new feature of Expo, showcases some of the numerous, lesser-known breeds. Shelly Bohn, a representative of the Dutch Belted Association, takes a few minutes to tell us about the Pavillion and its unique features.

At the conclusion of World Dairy Expo’s opening day, commercial exhibitors gathered for the annual Hoard’s Dairyman Exhibitor’s party. The event was “south of the border” themed and featured food like mini burritos, quesadillas, and even margaritas to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Hoard’s Dairyman en Español. Top booth awards were also given out. In the large booth category, Waikato placed first. In the medium booth size, Priority One placed first. Finally, in the small booth category, Parkson Corporation placed first. See the slideshow below for snapshots of the event.
